I agree with K, Alana, and Jean. Libraries are supposed to be reiesptorios of knowledge and critical thinking to develop knowledgeable and critical citizenry for critical times. Libraries are not storehouses for populist junk to work against that goal. Must our libraries be like American shopping malls too much choice and sifting for substance? 2.1 million titles, yes, but how essential are each of those works? Reference libraries would be amazing places of essential knowledge and give greater access to academic journals in print currently restricted to Central library. Lets have the Architectural Review and Art Forum, etc, not silly fashion rags that anyone can buy themselves!
